Make Hoodies History – Windsor consultation March 16-17, 2009
As part of a long-running project entitled Personal Responsibility: Building a Responsible Society, IGE UK brought together organisations that celebrate the positive work of young people through their award schemes, those delivering services to young people, cross-party policy makers, representatives of the media and others. The purpose of the consultation was to consider ways of counteracting the deficit model of young people so often presented in the media, and to explore the concept of encouraging pro social behaviour. Key recommendations arising from the consultation are to develop (i) a Youth Media Charter (ii) a Youth Press Complaints Gateway and (iii) a Practical Youth Media Action Plan.
