More than 100 young people that work in the media came together for the very first time at the Youth-led Media Summit 2009 to debate how they can shape the industry’s future.
On 15 December, 2009, the Institute for Global Ethics UK Trust brought together creative young people representing up to 70 different media organisations from across the UK, to the Rich Mix, London, for the UK’s first ever Youth-led Media Summit, to give support for a campaign to reduce the negative image of young people in the media. Aims of the summit

- To empower youth-led media through a Youth-led Media Network
- To increase positive profiling of young people
- To up-skill young people with media skills and funding opportunities
- To promote nationwide coordinated campaigning – especially SHINE
- To act as a source for youth-led content

Outcomes of the summit
Networking Opportunity
An excellent opportunity for young people to network with professionals and other young people. On the day there were:
